All Tapestry programmes have been developed to enable a whole school/establishment approach known as a Teacher Learning Community (TLC) or Professional Learning Community (PLC).

A learning community comprises a group of teachers or other professionals (e.g. instrumental music teachers, community learning and development and early years practitioners) who meet together regularly to improve practice.  This puts the responsibility on the teachers or other professionals to share good practice and to support each other as a group.

The leaders of the respective learning communities attend all Tapestry support sessions and are given practical support materials – the Tapestry Toolkit – returning to their respective establishments with new learning and knowledge, strategies and practical examples to share with other members of their school / establishment community.

The Tapestry tutors offer guidance and support to leaders over a one or two year period.
